I'm up late anyway might as well make it good. So the quilt I'm entering is a basic disappearing nine patch I did for my MIL for her birthday this year..she turned 50. But it was the first quilt I ever tried an all over free motion quilting on. It was about a twin size.I tried to do feathers they turned out more like paisley?! All in all it was a great experience to free motion like that on my little Brother machine. I got over my big fear of free motion and it turned out pretty good. I haven't quilted a long time. Well probably two years now. I started when my husband was deployed to Iraq, i really needed a hobby and this is what I chose. Fabric is by Moda. Outer borders by Connecting threads.
An up close and personal of the quilting

Wow, I love this quilt. Your MIL is very lucky.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!
ReplyDeletegreat job!! i have a little brother machine too... and i'm quilting with it... in my town we dont have long arm machine... :S
ReplyDeleteOh my your quilting is beautiful! It's a very lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteTerrific quilt, but AMAZING quilting. I quilt on a small machine but do limit the size I tackle (twin is too big), but I did find that doing it on my wood dining room table to be helpful. It has a polished surface and the quilt slides around easily (I put a placemat under my machine and sewing supplies).

I love the quilt. A D9P is one of my favorite "quick piecing" patterns. I have done two lapquilts in D9P.
ReplyDeleteFor a "quilt it myself" quilt bigger than a lap quilt, I usually use a quilt as you go method. It helps to avoid the wrestling of an entire quilt thru the small machine.
looks great and good job with the quilting. looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteYour quilting looks great. I've quilted a queen + size on my machine and I agree, there's a lot of wrestling involved the end result is so worth it.
ReplyDeleteI think the quilting is lovely! Beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteWow! Good for you! A quilt that size in a small machine is quite an undertaking. And your quilting turned out beautifully. Thanks so much for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job. Even more impressive done on a small machine.
ReplyDeleteYou got that right ! (about the muscle building, I mean) That's why I went back to doing it by hand......now I can get back to re-building the muscles in my hands. Believe it or not, I noticed a weakness in them (at my age) when I had to put quilting aside for a few months.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful gift quilt ! As a 51 year old myself, I think she must enjoy such a gift from the daughter-in-law immensely.
Wow! That's fantastic free motion! Totally impressed. Thanks for sharing. And happy to have found a new 2 me blog. ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love it! What great fabrics, and the quilting is amazing.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt. I love the colors and the pattern. You did an amazing job with the free motion quilting. I too have a small machine and prefer to send mine out but i need to get over that and give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thank your husband for the service he is giving to his country.
